JOHN BARKER attended the Hornsey College of Art in the late 1950's, then travelled throughout the Middle and Far East and across Europe. Later settled back in Essex, he joined the Wivenhoe Arts Club, whose members included at that time, Francis Bacon, Dennis Worth-Miller and Dick Chopping. Moving to and exhibiting in France and Wales, the landscape and colours of both countries still influence his paintings today. Working mainly in acrylic, with the use of colour in the style of Turner, his paintings convey a deep sense of time and place, bridging the divide between the emotional and the abstract. John has work in private collections across the world.
