SYDNEY SYKES was born in Leicestershire in 1943 and studied at Loughborough College of Art & Design, before qualifying as an art teacher from Leicester University. Leaving teaching to pursue a successful international design and merchandising career enabled Sydney to develop a keen photographic eye. Combined with accomplished draughtsmanship this enables the attention to detail found in his current paintings. Now based in Suffolk, Sydney's distinctive landscapes and still-life pictures in watercolour or oils are proving to be very collectible.
