Clare Grossman

Clare is an award winning painter and printmaker whose work is featured in many commercial and public fine art collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, Claridges and The Langham London.Using a combination of techniques, her artwork is often constructed from layers of colour, mark making & texture. Using experimental methods which aim to describe movement, the vitality of nature and beautiful light, her work explores contrasts of solidity, the mysterious substance of shadows, reflections and the surveyance of rhythmical patterns across architectural forms. This vocabulary of visual elements is used with an emphasis on the rendering of the physical experience of a chosen subject. Her approach to printmaking is personal with an emphasis on creating ‘variable editions’. Her knowledge of etching & experimentation with monoprint techniques has evolved into original editioned prints where each individual print is a unique impression.Clare trained at Camberwell School of Art, attaining a Masters Degree in Fine Art Printmaking in the 1990’s. Since then she has continued her practice from her own studio in North London and with various professional print studios. She has been Artist in Residence at Scuola Internazionale di Graphica in Venice and the London Print Studio. Her artwork has won the Intaglio Printmaker Prize, The Artist Magazine Prize and the Printmaking Prize from the Ben Uri Museum
