Michael was born in 1940. He started making pottery when he was in his twenties, beginning with a potters wheel in his father’s greenhouse. Key to his creative development was meeting David Ward who taught pottery and refined his basic skills & taught him about glazes.
Now living in Leicestershire & inspired by the surrounding countryside, Michael specialises in sculpting wild birds. All are hand made, starting by being thrown on the wheel, beaten into shape with head, wings & tail attached before decoration, glazing & firing.
